I did. We did. All the way back in November…It was a trip we planned for 6 months. Now if you ask me, the planning of any trip is the FREE bonus that I consider part of the collective trip, but technically it’s not because there isn’t any real proof. From the hotel to the doughnuts, we laid in bed and anticipated it all and then went… some what on a budget, but not really because plane tickets were involved; I declare the big apple did not disappoint.
We stayed in a smaller boutique hotel call the Andez by Hyatt. It was right off 5th avenue by the library and Bryant Park and across the street from Grand Central station. The place was pretty swanky with glass closets, 20 foot ceilings, movable walls, robes and complimentary figs. Free soda in the fridge too….
We arrived late and slept in a little the first morning but made it to china town on the subway to eat the cheapest dumplings on the planet. 10 for $2…yes our lunch cost two dollars. Well, and then $8 for Doughnut Plant doughnuts: coconut cream, PB&J and Pumpkin square doughnuts.
Time Square was so much bigger than I thought. Gigantic. And us on a Jumbo tron billboard. Looky-looky.
We went to the empire state building around 4:00, to see the whole city in day light and then to watch the sun set. I highly recommend the rented telephone tour guide.
And now dinner… street Halal Indian food… Lamb and chicken with rice, corn? lettuce, tomato all bathed in a cream sauce not unlike ranch, there might have been cheese, and a kicker sauce, something HOT…
We got to see Wicked. It was sensational. Really. We had listened to the music a bunch before but I couldn’t ever figure out the ending--we didn’t know the ending. The ending is great, but, oh my, really, the whole show was something else.
It was such a great, first day, in New York…
