Ben’s TEN. And lives for his birthday. And thankfully, he’s so happy to please. In the past he’s asked for specific presents, but this year, just a Swapforce Skylander and a surprise. Presenting the new “Siege” and he’s elated! Our one birthday tradition started the hard way. I was trying to get three year old Benjamin to stop playing with Lighting McQueen and go to bed; he had only opened him up a half an hour before. Presents are set out and opened at breakfast with the whole day to play. Also on your birthday, you can say all the day’s prayers, (or decide who gets to), and choose whatever breakfast and dinner you want. I should get a “you are special” plate and bowl (they always choose sweet cereal for breakfast)
No big parties this year because of baby, but Vanessa was in town springbreaking and Robyn and Co. were off tracking, so we got together for Skylander “element” cupcakes and a trip to a Trampoline Arena.
Look at the hands that came out to keep the 3 year old set from blowing too. The Suttons and Noel kids made all the cupcake toppers while waiting for Ben to get home from school. Water (robin eggs), Fire (peach rings) Magic (taffy) Tec (candy bricks) Life (Apple licorice) Undead (yogurt pretzels) Earth (chocolate rocks) Air (blue tootsie taffy), Thank you Winco bulk food. Not too many pictures but such a fun place and with a Groupon, even sweeter. Krissy brought her kids to play with mine on Friday, our first day of Spring break. And she spoiled us with treats from Kneaders, PJs for me, and suits for baby!
All 8 window panels that I had hung and thought the package creases wouldn’t last, and when they did I took them all down and threw them in the dryer to steam them out and they just shrunk and wrinkled. Grrrr.
So for about two hours Krissy channeled her inner Cinderella and ironed and ironed and ironed. The panels are smooth and hung, now baby can come. (That last statement is superficial and untrue, only a crazy 39 week pregnant momma could believe!)
Krissy also coaches. “Now Nora, have you bought diapers?” um no “Do you have a suit to bring him home in?” no “What are you wearing home from the hospital?” I don’t know the pjs you brought?… You could probably ask the Easter Bunny to bring you a Krissy, but the real one already has a gig here offering and bringing endless support and love. Thanks dear Krissy for everything!
A quick trip to Target and all was remedied: diapers, gown and swaddling blankets (how have Utah spring and summer babies been cared for, for centuries, without swaddling blankets?).
Paige practicing swaddling her hair.
I dropped off all five kids at Grandma’s for the next day’s induction, and we then attended the general women’s meeting and bonus! an ice cream social!
I finally finished my spice and recipe organization. Read about it here.
